As of March 2025 Luath Press has reissued my Highland Cowboys as an EBook version of the original Plaids & Bandanas 2003.
My work was based on both Canadian and Western US research visits in 2000. It developed from the show Plaids and Bandanas which was first performed in the Highland Festival in 1998.
Our folk group Ceilidh Menage toured various parts of Scotland and in September 2000 in Alberta, British Columbia and Montana. Eleven gigs in fourteen nights to tell our Trans Atlantic tale.
The wellspring of Highland drovers and Scottish cattlemen flowed into the work and investment in the American West. You can find out how Easter Ross, Wester Ross and Dundee among other Scottish places link to South Dakota, Wyoming and Texas.
